GREAT Scholarships


GREAT scholarships are jointly funded by the UK Government’s GREAT Britain Campaign and the British Council with participating UK higher education institutions. They provide £10,000 to the international students from around 15 countries as their tuition fees and are awarded for various one-year taught postgraduate courses. For the academic year 2024-25, 71 universities across England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland are offering 210 GREAT Scholarships to students from 15 countries. Chevening Scholarship


These scholarships are funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and their partners, including the UK universities. They offer rewards for studying in the UK for a Master's degree course. It is the most prestigious scholarship out of all offered by the UK universities. It provides full funding for a Master’s degree course and is a unique opportunity for ambitious students who possess extraordinary leadership skills and hold a capability of excelling. To be eligible for this scholarship, students must belong to a Chevening-eligible country, of which India is one. This scholarship also demands a work experience of around 2 years and a relevant undergraduate degree, along with an offer letter from any UK university.


Rhodes Scholarship


These scholarships are university-specific, merit based scholarships funded by Rhodes Trust. They provide a fully-funded program, aiming to aid the international students aspiring to study postgraduate programs from the University of Oxford. There are approximately 100 scholarships provided by the university to aspiring students every year. To be eligible for this scholarship, the student has to be a citizen of Rhodes-eligible countries, of which India is one. The selection process spans across the student’s academic performance, personal statement and interview. The provided financial aid covers the tuition fees, health insurance, accommodation expenses, living expenses, travel expenses of the students and they are also offered a monthly stipend.


Commonwealth Scholarships


These scholarships are managed by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK. They provide merit-based scholarships, which are offered by the British Council organisation for international students who have performed exceptionally well in academics but cannot afford to study in the UK. This program can be availed by the students who are a citizen of any of the commonwealth countries for pursuing Master’s or Doctorate programs from any UK university till the tenure of their degree programs. The scholarship covers the expense of tuition fees, travel expenses, living allowance, and others which are aligned with the particular university.


Dr. Manmohan Singh Scholarship


This university-specific scholarship is specifically designed to encourage Indian students who aspire to study at the esteemed University of Cambridge, to receive financial assistance to enable the students to accomplish their goals. They are designed for students who aim to pursue a full-time PhD program at the University of Cambridge. The selection process is very demanding based on a students’ academic performance and personal interview round. The scholarship is only available to the students who want to pursue their doctorate degree in Science and Technology, Social Sciences, Economics, Marine Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, and Energy Studies.


Charles Wallace India Trust Scholarships


These scholarships are specifically crafted for providing financial assistance to Indian students in the middle or early stages of their career, belonging to the field of arts, humanities and heritage conservation. The aid enables them to accomplish their artistic, professional and academic goals by studying in the top-notch UK universities. The Charles Wallace India Trust, in association with the British Council, acknowledges the importance of spanning cultural dialogue and to assist talented individuals. For this, they provide financial support to the students, which covers their travel expenses, accommodation expenses, living costs, and other allowances. The scholarship covers a precise field of courses, encompassing photography, visual arts, performing arts, designing, film, and conservation studies. There are various grants offered such as Long-Term Grants, which offer up to two long-term awards each year, and Short-Term Grants, which are offered for short-term research.



Gates Cambridge Scholarship


This is a university-specific, merit based, fully funded scholarship offered by the University of Cambridge. They offer up to 80 scholarships for exceptional international students aspiring to pursue postgraduate programs in their respective fields. The amount covers all the university expenses including academic and non-academic essentials. The scholarship assists the student's academic journey in PhD., M.Sc., M.Litt or any postgraduate course for a year. Candidates are filtered and assessed based on a variety of criteria which encompasses the student's intellectual abilities, reason for choosing the program, and leadership qualities.
